Are the Big Three still relevant, or should we crown a Shounen King?

We have seen a lot of anime, ones ranging from old to new, big to small, and long to short. The Shounen Branch used to consist of an oligarchy named The Big Three, consisting of 3 massively successful shows, named Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. Shounen has changed a lot recently, some good and some bad, but should we dethrone the Big Three and crown a new Shounen King? Or are the Big Three here to stay?

One Piece will be the King until it's over...so for the next 15 years lol

I don't understand why this is always brought up.

The Big 3 were a product of their time. That phenomenal level of popularity and influence on the west will never happen again. Never. The sheer overabundance and ease of how we consume anime and manga today is so different from back then.

The Big 3 dies with Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. It's not a title to pass on. Replacements shouldn't even be a question.

It shouldn't change. I think the term used in regards to how those series shaped the genre, not of their quality.
To name something like MHA with that title, we'd have to see what impact it has a decade or two now.
Reminder that "shounen" (by MAL's databases) could range from Death Note, to AOT, to A Silent Voice, or even Nichijou.

Nichijou is the next shounen king?

But since One Piece is still exist, we can't change the big 3 yet, can we?
Or maybe the big 3 now is OP, BnHA and Black Clover? Since if the whole big 3 is going to be changed, what's the third candidate?

I'm starting to get embarrassed by my own forum signature line.. XD

One piece is still going and still maintains great quality in both storytelling and art. Comparing bhna and black clover to it is fucking laughable.

It doesn't really make sense to find the new Big 2 in current world where it's clearly the political world changes.. I hope everyone at least can understand that..

What does this even mean? Of course it matters. International politics effect us all. You just suggested that it “really doesn’t make sense” to know who the hegemonic powers of the world are in a Cold War Type situation. politics change, but we are still living in the current political climate, and it is wise for people to stay informed. What a weird analogy.

They aren't regarded as the Big 3 for the quality of their stories but for the massive attention they garnered for the medium. The '90s gave wave to the popularity of anime in the west but the 2000s further cemented it. I don't think we'll ever have something like that again & why I'm on the side that says the torch will never be passed down onto a new generation. There's newer and popular titles yeah, but at the same level? Nah. There could be a different kind of name for it tho, just not as a phenomenon.

If there were a battle shounen king I think DBZ has already been crowned royalty.

What I mean is we don't have "Big 2" anymore, but only Big 1 (USA) or Big 3 (USA, Russia, China), or another number of big depend on how you calculate it, but not Big 2 (USA and USSR) anymore..

guess its too soon to dethrone the big three, naruto shippuden finished airing last year and bleach's manga was completed in 2016, one piece havent even finished yet... i mean 1 or 2 years arent enough to make them irrelevant
one day they wont be that famous anymore though

and for the new shounen king... i dont know, it would probably be boku no hero academia, but u know... *sigh in disappointment*
i really like bnha but i just think it doesnt deserve to be considered the new shounen king

They were their own thing. There was never a big three in Japan, only in the West. A product of the times and era. There will never be another big three ever again. Deal with it.

I still judge people who like Naruto and One Piece, but that's me being a hater, so... Yeah, it's time to move on to judging people who like Hunter x Hunter and Sword Art Online.
