Scale of the universe.

For the EMPEROR!!
Yeah that's very cool.. but just think about multi-verses and "membranes". It really is mind blowing thinking about the sheer distances and time scales. Great stuff

Quantum foam sounds comfortable. I want a matress made out of it.

Very cool link, boothbabe. Thanks for posting. The zooming effect kind of reminds me of the intro to "Contact", which coincidentally, is the best part of the movie.

Wow 14,000,000,000 years old as far as we can tell, thats insane!

Consider that our universe's 14 billion years might be a tiny blip...a mere spark caused by membranes that can defy time itself. Or maybe we're less than a quarter way into a single cycle of an eternal bang-crunch cycle?

I'm about three decades old; if luck should bless me and give me another 30 years and science is allowed to progress as it has since the renaissance, the things that will be learned will rival all of our astonishments about concepts like god and ghosts. We're lucky to be alive at the true height of discovery and understanding. Our ancestors dreamed of the things we take for granted every hour of every day.

"Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space..."

I think Douglas Adams had a good grasp on just how big the universe is.

I always loved that quote :)
