Lyrics:
Cheap lips, soft eyes, lost in the most blinding lights
As cold as those first nights alone
As the second best he'll become
Sleep deep, girl, dream well
That night, I think he cried himself to sleep
Just maybe, he felt more than we could ever know
And I think he pulled that trigger to empty that memory
I think he cut the weight to end the floods of you
Let him soar, let him ride as budding gravestones do
Just sleep, girl, just dream well

One of the best bass lines of all time.
God Bless Equal Vision Records. Too many classic albums to name here. We’d all be lesser than without them.
This album is timeless , still makes me feel the same way almost 25 years later .
if you're listening to this unique, endearing song, you're a cool weirdo like me, I salute you.
Know any more songs like this?
@mateusnogueira7340 the jesus lizard or slint has songs like this
such a raunchy riff. love it.
Genuinely one of the most evil guitar riffs ever recorded. It sounds like what goes on in a serial killers mind
Check out Slaughterhouse by Chat Pile
I didn't understand what you meant til I heard it, you're 100% correct. This riff is diabolical it is such pure darkness. The closest thing I could compare it to is the devil's fiddle solo in Devil Went Down to Georgia, it's that kind of demonic energy
Then you haven't heard Dream Long Dead by Godflesh
Don't steal Satan's wig, or else there will be HELL TOUPE.
Xd
Oh no... what have I done
Bahahahh
Clearly I needed a laugh
Thats a Turbonegro song 😂
Hey Beavis,is this alice in chains
So I have a weird story with this music... There I was with my Jane Doe tattoo on my left arm, having this song stuck in my head 24/7 but I couldn't remember where it was from, or even if it was real, made up by my ADHD brain that plays music non-stop (It's not a joke, it really looks like a radio station), all I knew it that it looked a lot like Converge and I went through the ENTIRE discografy just to know where this music was from... well, I failed, and kinda accepted that I made it up myself and started recreating it on my acoustic guitar, not by ear, but by brain, took almost a month, I even learned how to create drum patterns on bandlab just to recreate the music... and then, one day hitting the gym, listening to one of my old metal playlists, this music appears, and there was this mix of "Finally, I found it" and "FFS I SPENT AN ENTIRE MONTH TRYING TO CREATE THIS SHIT"... well, things can be way harder than they need to be when you have an attention span of a golden fish (Sorry for any misspellings, as english is not my first language)
I relate to this on a spiritual level just with other songs
My ADHD brain has a built in playlist, too. This is one of many songs it has accrued throughout my years on this dirt ball planet.
Got the same tattoo on the Inside on my left forearm
@@pmonty514 aaaaye! Tattoo Brothers! Show me yours
I'm checking this band in every 2 years, just to see can I like it. Answer is no so far. I'm trying because the critics are always praising...
Edit: This one is different from others though, I liked it a lot
Nate Newtons bass lines on this album made hardcore/metal bass guitar what it is today...at least for me.
i also love his back up growls. that dude has some range
Nate is awesome, glad he's in Cave In now. He has a very grungy bass sound, I mean that in the best way possible. Like the Subpop/Jack Endino-grunge bass sound, not the crappy imitation grunge of later 90's.
Here's him explaining the equipment he uses, and he plays the riff through the rig: ruclips.net/video/dWhsBawWZoc/видео.html
Fuck yeah.
As someone who was a fan of metallic hardcore and doom/stoner metal, this song made me all sorts of happy when I first picked up the album.
this is a forever song
Timeless indeed
I love the bass line
this shit sounds baller on acoustic.
Heavy.
Bought and built the Brutalist Jr after seeing them for the first time.. Fast forward to a few days ago to when I heard Nate Newton play this bass riff through his signature pickups and I had to buy those too lol. These guys just oozed tone.
Here's him explaining the equipment he was using (at the time this vid I'm linking was recorded, at least), and he plays the riff through the rig: ruclips.net/video/dWhsBawWZoc/видео.html
That’s what made me buy the Riffblasters! My Warlock bass never sounded better!
masterpeice
Here's Nate the bassist explaining the equipment he was using (at the time this vid I'm linking was recorded, at least -- now he has signature pickups), and he plays the hell to pay riff through the rig: ruclips.net/video/dWhsBawWZoc/видео.html
kurt plays it on a recent vid where they do a rundown of the line6 helix
this always reminds me of slint somehow
Clicked and unclicked the like button because I didnt feel like changing the 666 likes. This one surely raises hell.
I just got the 777th
(hell to play + spliff) x (dark room + chocolate milk) = heaven in her arms
You also listen to this high also
This sounds it could be on Down on the Upside
Reminds me a little of Monkey Trick by The Jesus Lizzard.
Never thought of that before but yeah , definitly has a similar dirty bluesy vibe lol
I was thinking Good Morning Captain by Slint
LET ME BURN IN HELL
Great track!
Very Jesus Lizard-y and one of their coolest songs
slayyyYYYYYyppp dayyyyyyYYYYpp
bowwow wowwowwowwowwowwowwowwowwwwww
i dont quite have hell, will RMV be enough? will you take RMV?
Primus in Chains!
But there’s no slap bass
Thickest bass line ever
I'm hearing binge and purge by clutch
Insidious
If Tool, AIC, and Primus had a baby, this would be the result.
🇧🇷
I accidentally covered this on guitar without knowing (bass part)
Congrats
filthy nasty gross vicious slanderous MEAN bass.
always thought this sounds like slint
After listening to this I want to die by the hands of Satan 😈
Song is more closer to doom metal than those crappy rock bands listed below
this is the right take here. AIC and Slint still rule though
